While there are many different types of student visas which may be applied depending on your specific circumstances the one most commonly applied for by students looking to study in Australia is the Student Visa subclass 500.
Student Visa 500 provides international students with an opportunity to stay in Australia for a course registered under the CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students) for a period up to five years.
Before applying for the visa, a student must first enrol into a full-time course with an accredited Australian institution with the entitlement to the Student Visa Subclass 500. The student must also have proof of sufficient funds to not pay the tuition fee but also their living expenses for the duration of the course.
This visa allows the student to work up to 40 hours fortnight once the course commences during the terms but full time during the holidays. This visa subclass also allows the student to bring their family members to Australia with them, including their partner who will also be entitled to working rights

SUBCLASS 417
Working Holiday Visas are visas which entitle the visa holder to travel to, remain in and work in Australia. These visas are suitable for people who are aged 18 to 30 who want to see Australia while also earning money to support their travels. Working Holiday Visa holders are also known as backpackers.
To be eligible for a Working Holiday Visa, you must hold a passport of an eligible country. Not all countries have working holiday agreements with Australia so it is important to check that your country of passport allows you to apply for a Working Holiday Visa.
Applicants for Working Holiday Visas must also have enough funds on hand to support their travel while in Australia. This is usually AUD$5,000 plus the cost of an airfare out of Australia.
The Working Holiday Visa subclass 417 is also the type of Working Holiday Visa that can be held twice. The first time you apply you must be outside of Australia.
If you wish to apply for a subsequent Working Holiday Visa subclass 417, you must satisfy the DoHA of the following:
To be eligible for a second Working Holiday Visa subclass 417, applicants must complete specified regional work.

SUBCLASS 600
As the name suggests, the Visitor visa subclass 600 is a visa type that provides the opportunity to the applicants to visit their family or friends in Australia. With the visitor visa 600, an applicant will be able to go to Australia as a tourist, for the purpose of enjoying a holiday or any other purpose which is somehow not related to medical treatments or business.
While citizens of the 45 eVisitor or ETA-eligible countries are able to complete the online Australia visa application for short tourism or business stays, all other passport holders are able to apply for a visitor visa for Australia for the same purposes, as well as for longer stays.
The visitor visa for Australia has replaced the now-defunct Australia tourist visa and can be applied for online through the Australia Immigration Department by all citizens except those from Somalia, who must apply in person.
Within the subclass 600, there are different classifications of visitor visa Australia that depend on the purpose of the stay and the nationality of the applicant. The Australia visitor visa can be granted for a stay of either 3, 6, or 12 months for either single or multiple-entry, determined on a case-by-case basis by Australian Immigration officials.
Those eligible will need to meet the Australia visa requirements for the visitor visa before applying. Primarily, this involves having a passport valid for at least three months upon entry to Australia, and additional supporting documentation may be required depending on the purpose of the visa.
