If you are about to start your visa application or citizenship application for Australia then you must sign up for an ImmiAccount.
What is an ImmiAccount?
Your ImmiAccount allows you to check the progress of your application online, so you don’t have to wait on the phone to speak with someone from the Australian immigration department. You can also save your application online and complete it at a later date.
An ImmiAccount will also allow you to submit and pay for multiple visa applications at the same time.
What can I do on my ImmiAccount?
An ImmiAccount allows you to electronically attach required documentation to your visa application, rather than mailing the documentation which can delay the processing of your application. However, it is still important to keep a hard copy of this documentation as the Australian immigration department may request to view original copies of your supporting documentation.
If you realise you have made a mistake filling out your visa application, you can easily complete a notification of incorrect answers online form from within your ImmiAccount. Simply open your application in ImmiAccount and click on the reference number of the application you wish to update.
You can also access notify the department of a change of circumstances, change of email and residential address, change your passport details by completing and submitting these forms through your ImmiAccount.
Who can sign up for an ImmiAccount?
Anyone who wishes to submit and manage visa and citizenship applications online can create an ImmiAccount. Whether you are applying from within or outside of Australia, or are a person appointed by an applicant to assist with the application process, we suggest you visit www.border.gov.au to sign up for an ImmiAccount.
If you are applying for a 457 sponsorship visa, your potential employer may also create and ImmiAccount on your behalf.
Can I sign up for an ImmiAccount after I've lodged my visa application?
If you have already lodged a paper visa application that is currently being processed, you might be able to import it into an ImmiAccount depending on the type of visa you have applied for.
